7 juniors competed in the Stoop fell races at Haworth in very wintry conditions. U8, 4th Tom Hagan (3.02), 8th Annie Brown (3.14) and 23rd Lyra Weston (4.50). In the 1 mile race 19th Rose Hagan (8.30), 24th Jack Sturgeon (8.49) and 39th Nea Weston (10.31). In the 2 mile race Sam Wood was 6th in 15.36.
On the final SHA session in December 6 juniors recieved their 'colours'. Jack Cummings was the only individual to receive his Fell colours (U14). For Track & Field Athletics there were graded performance certificates and badges for Daniel & Zoe Judkowski, Grace Malir and Harry Maslen. Colours were presented to (U15); Georgia Malir, Daniel Judkowski and Harry Maslen; (U13) Grace Malir and Zoe Judkowski.
On Sunday the final event in the Complete Runner Cross-Country League took place at a very wintry Wakefield. Conditions underfoot were possibly the most challenging that any athlete is every likely to encounter. 18 juniors raced in the event gaining valuable points for both the individual and team competitions. Individual and team results were: U11 boys - 7th Francis Westhead and 17th Euan Brennan. U11 girls - 2nd Phoebe Ogden, 9th Alessandra Ricci and 13th Laura Harrison giving them a first team placing. The U13 boys were represented by James Pickering who was 23rd. U13 girls have had a strong squad throughout the season with 10 running at Wakefield. Their positions were: 5th Sarah Pickering, 13th Rose Hagan, 15th Lucy Williamson, 18th Tassy Heslop, 21st Lucy Jacques, 22nd Grace Malir, 26th Elizabeth Westhead, 28th Harriet Jackson, 29th Holly Margerrison and 32nd Josie Clarke. They were rewarded with 3rd team placing. For the U15 girls Georgia Malir was 8th and Naomi Elliott 21st.
In the overall league positions the U11 and U13 girls both gained bronze
medals for their 3rd team placings. Twenty Junior Harriers raced in three
or more events so have individual placings: U11 boys - 10th Francis Westhead,
17th Euan Brennan; U11 girls - 4th Phoebe Ogden, 12th Alessandra Ricci,
15th Laura Harrison and 16th Jess Burgess. U13 boys - 15th Tom Kerr; U13
girls - 8th Sarah Pickering, 15th Lucy Williamson, 16th Tassy Heslop.

job as Junior team manager.
Sally has been helping in the junior section for a couple of years now coaching on a Monday with the 11 to 15 year olds doing Sportshall Athletics and in the summer months helping on a Tuesday at the specific Track & Field session. She is also a regular attender of the Saturday Family Fell run and is currently trying her hand at the sprinting sessions at UAK ! However Sally has gained this award for Team Managing not only 'team Malir' but also the junior cross-country teams as well as being there for the Track & Field teams.

On Saturday 20th November 24 Junior Ilkley Harriers ran in the 3rd race
of The Complete Runner Cross country series at Bramley Park. This was
the biggest turnout that the juniors has had to date, and for some people
it was their first ever race in an event of such a high standard.
There were some fantastic individual and team performances with everybody
running really well.

On Saturday 30th October it was the second race in the Complete runner
Cross Country league. The race took place in Huddersfield and again we
had fantastic weather for running . 18 Ilkley Junior Harriers toed the
line and, although depleted in numbers this week because of half term,
Still produced great results. Every single runner ran a great race and
the under 11 girls produced a fantastic 2nd team result improving on their
3rd at Nunroyd. Other results were:

Report from Sally Malir
The first race in The Complete Runner cross country series took place
on Sunday 10th October in Nunroyd Park Guiseley. The weather was fantastic
and the underfoot conditions were perfect for a great race. Junior Ilkley
Harriers turned out 23 runners who all ran their socks off to produce
some great results!
Georgia Malir (U15) had a particularly great run producing her best ever
result of 6th and the team were placed 6th overall, the under 11 girls
team were 3rd overall and the under 13 girls team were 2nd. Individual

Euan Brennan won the boys 9-10 category in the Harewood Trail race in a time of 14 mins 24 secs- an improvement of 21 secs from last year. It was also in torrential rain!
Ian is a Level 2 coach and has been coaching for 3 or 4 years in the junior section. He started with the Thursday 8 to 10 year old Sportshall Athletics sessions but has been coaching the 11-15 year olds on a Monday for the last two years. A regular at the Saturday morning Family Fell Run and leads this session when Neil is unavailable.
Just Euan Brennan made it along to this event but put together a great set of results. He had two 5th places in long jump (3m.29) and 75m (12.3) and 6th in the 600m with 2.02.8.
Well done to Zoe and Daniel Judkowski who both competed in this event. Zoe (U13) was 2nd in the long jump with 3m.58, 3rd in the 200m in 33.7 and 4th in the shot with 6m.09. Daniel finished off his season in style by winning all three of his events - shot with 9m.19, javelin with 32m.74 and long jump with 4m.96.
Only 3 juniors made it to this event, but all performed incredibly well. U15 Boys: Harry Maslen, 2nd 80m Hurdles 13.4, 2nd High Jump 1m.55, 4th long jump 4m.98; U17 Boys: Rob Rekis, 2nd 100m 12.3secs, 2nd 200m 24.2, 2nd long jump 5m.13; Charlie Maslen, 3rd 800m 2.17.2, 3rd long jump 4m.76, 4th shot 9m.72.
Final Ingrams League positions were: U9/U11 girls and boys: both Evie and Euan were 15th overall with 7pts each. U13 girls: Grace Malir 7th (24 points), Zoe Judkowski 29th (5 points). U13 boys: Will Heard 14th (19 points), Thomas Kerr 34th (4 points). U15 girls: Georgia Malir 8th (27 points), Liz Heard 10th (26 points), Naomi Elliott 44th (3 points). U15 boys: Harry Maslen 4th (48 points), Daniel Judkowski 14th (21 points). U17 girls: Beth Pugh 6th (30 points). U17 boys: Rob Rekis 5th (36 points), Charlie Maslen 11th (20 points). Well done to everyone who gained points this season and to everyone else who competed for Ilkley.
Ilkley entered three teams in this friendly Relay and everyone ran exceptionally well taking the first three places. There has to be a mixture of ages from 8 through to 16 and everyone runs the same 1 mile course. The first team to finish in a time of 33.33 was Alessandra Ricci (9.49), Adam Speight (8.08), Jack Cummings (8.31) and Sam Wood (7.03). Our second team to finish in 34.02 was Francis Westhead (8.00), Elizabeth Westhead (8.52), Ed Bickerdike (9.24) and Rosie Shouler-Harris (7.44). The third team to finish in 35.21 was Ella Shouler-Harris (9.35), Jordan Ince (8.21) Ruaridh Mon-Williams (9.32) and Tom Bennett (7.51). Well done to everyone who ran, to parents for supporting it and Otley AC for organising.
Although this is not a comprehensive results round up there has been a lot of races over the summer. If you've raced and are not mentioned send me your result. At the Yorkshire Championships at Hellefield on the 7th August we had two runners. In the U10's Abigail Roche was 24th (9th girl) in 6.15. Sam Haggar (U16) was 4th in 19.23. Jacob Hellewell (U12) was 7th at Reeth in 10.13 and 9th at Kettlewell. Jack Cummings (U14) has to be our 'King of the Fells' with results at Gargrave (8th in 10.20), Coniston Gullies 10th, Kettlewell 11th, Hawkswick Dash 10th, Cracoe 7th and Farleton Knott 12th.

In the junior boys category Jack Cummings was 4th overall with a good series of times (20.12, 20.23, 20.26 - 61.01 total); Sam Haggar was 5th with 20.36, 20.18, 20.24 - 61.18 in total; Ed Bickerdike ran 21.47, 31.36, 21.22 - 64.45 in total; Tom Bennett ran 22.24, 23.04, 22.55 - 68.23 in total. In the junior girls category Harriet Jackson was the first girl with the following times 25.36, 25.39, 24.48 - 76.03. Lucy Jacques and Alessandra Ricci both ran in the first and third races of the series. Lucy's times were 24.00 and 22.53 and Alessandra's were 25.07 and 25.55.

Fiona Jordan gained a silver medal in the 400m Hurdles in the U20 age category with a time of 67.67. Zoe Judkowski (U13) was 6th in her heat of the 80m in 13.24 and 8th in the shot with 5m.41. Daniel Judkowski (U15) competed in 6 events: 3rd in javelin with 32m.45, 4th in the shot with 9m.12, long jump with 5m.01 and in his 200m heat with 27.45, 6th in 400m final with 61.68 and 7th in the 100m heats. He gained 3 Bronze medals for Long Jump, Shot and Javelin.
Emily Wood received the award in April for her continued commitment to coaching in the junior section. For the past 4 years she has coached a double session every Thursday, helps out when needed on other sessions and runs the registration/results at most events we organise. She is a Level 1 coach and endurance official, an Emergency Aider and impressively knows most of the juniors by name.

U17 girls: Beth Pugh 7th in the long jump with 4m.03 and 5th in the 100m with 14secs.
Ros Blackburn is the first recipient of this award. She has been coaching juniors since the very first session at Clevedon House School in September 2002 and much of the way that the junior section has developed is due to Ros's involvement over the years. She was presented with her Dobson & Robinson vouchers by Katie Jones from England Athletics at the awards evening.
At our presentation of awards we also gave Club Colours and Half Colours to a number of Junior Ilkley Harriers who have represented the club throughout the season.

We coach 160 children each week for Sportshall Athletics and at the end of March we presented ShineAwards to them all. Since September the 11 to 15 year olds have been working towards their Level 3 Sportshall Athletics Heptathlon Award and the 8 to 11 year olds their Level 2 Agility Challenge Decathlon Award. Each year children gain more experience and standards continue to rise. This year we gave 8 Heptathlon gold medals to Bea Bradley, Naomi Elliott, Harry French, Daniel Judkowski, Harry Maslen, Beth Pugh, Kieran Roebuck and Chloe Tindale and the five most improved athletes were Sam Wood, Anna Sinclair, Jack Cowling, Ruaridh Mon-Williams and Imogen Wilson. For the younger children we presented 10 Decathlon gold medals to Nicholas Ducker, Billy Hagan, Tassy Heslop, Ben Jarvis, Zoe Judkowski, Phoebe Ogden, Roisin Ramage, Charles Smith, Matthew Sykes, and George Wilde. The five most improved athletes were Catherine Boyle, Josie Clarke, Charlie Smith, Molly Cheetham and Lucy Jacques.

In total out of the 100 competitors in this league Ilkley fielded 44 different runners - well done to everyone who competed at any event.
Forty-seven juniors competed in this first low-level club Sportshall Athletics competition. Well done to everyone and to all the coaches and helpers from Ilkley who helped to officiate on the day.
Fifteen Junior Ilkley Harriers competed in this event - well done to everyone.
Five junior Ilkley Harriers raced at the National Cross-Country Championships at Leeds on Saturday. This event comes to the North of England every three years so it is a great experience just to take part in it. For the U13's girls Ilkley had three competitors - Naomi Elliott was first home in 245th place in 14.54, followed by Lucy Williamson, 311th in 15.30 and Grace Malir in 330th in 15.40. Thomas Kerr was the only competitor in the U13 boys event, finishing in 228th place in 13.47. And in the U15 girls race Georgia Malir was 182nd in 17.07. Team manager Sally Malir said that everyone really enjoyed the day and finished with smiles on their faces. Well done to everyone.
It was the eighth running of the Junior Ilkley Moor Fell races on Sunday.
The weather was absolutely awful while setting up for the event and the
snow and ice made conditions the worse they had ever been for the competitiors.
Despite all this, 80 juniors came along to run in the event and make the
hard work all worthwhile. In the U8 half mile race the first three boys
places were: Ciaran Crabtree, 4.40 (Keighley & Craven), Edward Riley,
4.54 (Ashlands School) and Tom Hagan, 4.56 (Ilkley). For the U8 girls
it was Annie Brown, 5.24 (Airienteers), Molly Hesketh, 6.18 and Lucy Hargraves,
6.20. The U10's, 12's and 14's all do a one mile course. In the U10 boys
race the first junior home was Charles Smith, 8.06 followed by Kai Atkins,
8.29 (Pendle) and Francis Westhead, 8.56 (Ilkley). For the girls Alex
Baker, 10.44 (Pendle), Bethan Morley, 11.10 (Ilkley), and Zanya Moore,
11.59 (Calder Valley). For the U12's Ilkley had a clean sweep of the first
3 places in both the boys and girls races with Thomas Kerr, 8.13, Ruaridh
Mon-Williams, 8.18 and William Tench, 8.26 and for the girls Sarah Pickering,
8.45, Elizabeth Westhead, 9.10 and Lucy Jacques, 9.12. In the U14's and
outright winner of the 1 mile course was James Merchant, 7.58 (Pendle),
followed by Jack Cummings, 8.26 and Tom Bennett, 8.43 both from Ilkley.
In the girls race the order was Sally Handford, 9.14 (Keighley & Craven),
Lucy Williamson, 10.04 and Joanne Williamson, 13.03 both from Ilkley.
Six U16's competed in the two mile race and the winner was Kristian Edwards
from Tamworth AC in 13.38 followed by Bradley Chapman, 17.53 and Sam Wood,
18.10 both from Ilkley. The girls race winner was Pippa Barrett, 17.23
(Keighley & Craven) and Georgia Malir, 18.02 (Ilkley).
This event is also the annual Junior Ilkley Harrier club fell championship
where Phil Dean Trophies are presented to the first boy and girl JIH from
U10 to U16. The 2010 winners were: (U10) Francis Westhead and Bethan Morley;
(U12) Thomas Kerr and Sarah Pickering; (U14) Jack Cummings and Lucy Williamson;
(U16) Bradley Chapman and Georgia Malir. Many congratulations to all of
them and to everyone who competed at the event. Also thanks to all the
many helpers and marshalls who gave up their time to make the event happen.
Well done to the 9 JIH's that have been selected to represent WestYorkshire: U15's Chloe Tindale and Daniel Judkowski. For the U13's Naomi Elliott, Bea Bradley, Anna Tench, Rose Hagan, Will Giles, Ben Cheetham and Harry Maslen.
11 juniors raced at this event. In the U8's 18th Alexis Whitaker (4.20), 29th Nina Pearce (5.04), 31st Eve Whitaker (5.10) and 34th Lyra Weston (5.19). In the 1 mile race our first finisher was U14 Jack Cummings in 19th place (7.56), followed by a whole host of U10's many doing this course for the first time - 57th Beth Morley (9.44), 58th Robbie Matthews (9.45), 64th Nea Weston (10.20), 70th Madeleine Smith (10.36) and 81st Esme Pearce (11.53). Sam Wood doing the U16 two mile course for the first time was 8th in 15.22. Well done to everyone.
Well done to the 7 juniors who competed at this event. In the U13 boys event Ruaridh Mon-Williams was 169th in 14.27. In the U13 girls 90th Rose Hagan (13.48), 98th Naomi Elliott (13.54), 131st Lucy Williamson (14.17) and 163rd Grace Malir (14.48). Together they were 19th team on the day. In the U15 girls event 81st Georgia Malir (17.53) and 136th Anna Sinclair (19.43). Well done to everyone who competed in this high class event.
