From John Hayes…
The route for the Skipton Trail Half Marathon takes in Sharphaw (twice), Flasby, Hetton and the trails and backroads up and around Winterburn Reservoir. At about mile 12, when your legs have had enough and your thoughts are turning to the post-race meal, there is a steep climb back over Sharphaw. Most runners at the finish agreed that that climb was brutal (although not Alison Weston who remarked how much she was looking forward to the big climb when she was running the more gentle undulating sections of the course!) It is a friendly, well run event, with a goody bag to go with the meal. As ever, there was a good Harriers turn out with some excellent results.
