From Jeff Green…
This was my first ever half marathon and first road race for many years. Entries were well down on the 2019 event (from over 1400 down to under 500!) and with official results based on chip time, rather than gun time, the start felt fairly relaxed. This is definitely a PB potential course – almost completely flat with just a couple of inclines over the railway and plenty of pace runners targeting 1:20 to 2:20. From my pre-race test runs, I decided I was aiming for 1:25 and managed to keep pretty close to, or just outside, my target 4min/km for the first 15km. Fortunately, I had a bit left in the tank to pick up the pace for the last few km and finish just inside 1:25!
