Snake Lane 10-miler – Sun 18 Feb

From Sally Armitage…

I was beyond excited to race today having missed a number of events over winter due to illness.

A fairly flat, road 10 miler around the country lanes surrounding Pocklington. A popular race, it sells out quickly and attracts fast runners, this year the male winner finished in 50:14 and the female in 56:09. Quite ridiculous.

I ran Snake Lane two years ago and didn’t do my research properly at the time, I hadn’t realised there was a 4.5km long very gentle (does not feel gentle at that stage of the race!) incline to the finish, into the headwind, and lost a lot of time. This year I was ready and had saved a little kapow for the finish and luckily there was no wind to battle against! I had a good run, I felt strong throughout and really enjoyed it. Stoked to get a pair of running sunnies instead of a t-shirt at the finish, and a shiny medal too! Love a bit of bling.
