Harriers race league 2022 – upcoming fixtures

NOTE: All the rules, current standings and historic results are available on our dedicated race league page so I won’t bore you with them here when you can bore yourself with them there.

Here’s the rundown of our last few fixtures as the 2022 race league enters the home straight, breathing heavily, bleeding profusely, and missing one of its shoes.

Our next race is the Whixley 10k on 23 October, a multi-terrain race around the quiet, picturesque village of Whixley (c 45 mins drive from Ilkley). First and last mile are on road, otherwise, it’s an endearing mix of rutted farmland, tree roots, hardcore and agricultural byproduct.

It’s a very enjoyable event and prize for first place is an actual pork pie, although they did try to fob me off with a bottle of wine one time. There’s also usually bacon sarnies available in the village hall afterwards.

Our next fell race is the Burley Moor Run on 05 November

The Guy Fawkes 10k (06 November), unfortunately, has sold out – well done if you bagged yourself an entry!

NEW RACE CLAXON (woot woot)

The Post Hill 5k challenge is a substitute for our various cancelled fell races. It’s not an OFFICIAL fell race, but it meets the category criteria for a CS race, and our fell captains gave me the thumbs up to include it, so welcome to the lush, green fells of (checks notes) Morley.

As it’s only 5k, it could be a wonderful introduction to the world of off-road racing for any of our Cto5k graduates. Here’s a fun video of what you can expect: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JBZHGz92nE)

Our final trail race of the year is the PECO XC fixture at Temple Newsam (18 December). Entries are open for the entire PECO series (five races, PLUS the end-of-season relays) are available now on RaceBest for the DIRT CHEAP price of £15. Even if you don’t show up to any of the actual races, that’s still unbeatable value. And we could really do with fleshing our team out a bit.

The final, last, ultimate, decisive race of the year is the Ribble Valley 10k (road) on 27 December, so a great chance to burn off a few Christmas calories

If you’ve made it this far, multisport and multimedia devotee Danny Thompson made an excellent drone footage video of our last fixture, the Ilkley Incline. Relive the horror at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u01rzMP1ncQ
