God’s Own Back Yard Ultra – Sat 16 Nov

From Ash Winter…

On Saturday 16th November I took part in the autumn version of the Gods Own Backyard Ultra in Leeds, managing 15 yards of 4.167 miles, a total of 62.51 miles or 100.6 kilometres. I timed out in the 16th yard, nothing left in the tank, hamstrings, ankles, knees and hips all complaining bitterly! There was a day yard which was mostly trail in Bramley Falls and a night yard which followed the Leeds-Liverpool Canal. The day yard was much more fun, with a lovely downhill in the last mile through the autumn leaves. The furthest I had ever run in a day was a marathon, so I hoped to get to 50 miles. Turns out I also hit my second goal of 100km as well! 100 miles was my third goal but a bit of work to do on endurance to get there. Maybe next time 🙂
