Pete Bland Kentmere Horseshoe – Sun 16 Jul

From Alison Weston…

Jamie and I represented the Harriers at the Kentmere Horseshoe Race on July 16th – now run each year in memory of Pete Bland who sadly passed away in 2020.

The race is a great route along the ridge to High Street via Ill Bell and back via Kentmere Pike – 19.8 km and 1006 m.

It wasn’t as grim weather-wise as it could have been. Bit cold and wet and very windy but very little mist thankfully!

Won by Tim Lamont in 1:30:19.

From Jamie Hutchinson…

Pete Bland Kentmere Horsehoe 11.5miles 3400ft ascent

A favourite fell race, time dulls the memory of the tough first few miles and the tricky descent off Kentmere Pike. Some great running (and walking) round the horseshoe including up to High Street before heading home. Weather was variable with a bit of sun, rain and tad windy. Great to see Alison Weston at the start and had her in sight for a while on the climb but alas she showed me a muddy pair of heels disappearing up Buck Crag. Alison finished in 2:28 (166th) with me getting round in 2:39 (202nd). The race was won by Tim Lamont in 1hr 30 and 245 finished.
