From Rachel Carter…
It’s a few years since I ran this race and I had forgotten about the bogs. On the way out the route climbs up several plateaus before reaching the Stoop standing stone and then Top Withins (a ruined farmhouse said to have inspired Emily Bronte’s novel Wuthering Heights) via some of the flagged Pennine Way. I managed to overtake a few people on the descent but saw the girl ahead of me pull away on the long drag back to the cricket club at Penistone Hill. This race is one of four over the next four months that start at Penistone Hill above Haworth – they offer good value for money at only £5 entry which includes refreshments before and after!
Five Harriers took part with Gawain coming a great 7th and 1st in his category, winning chocolate beer and a pint pot tankard!
