We Need To Talk About Chevin – Sat 21 Mar 2026

From Jane McCarthy…

A shout out for this low key but fabulous event on our doorstep. Organised by Great Owl Running it is a tough course (2,130 ft over 14km), with the first climb right out of the blocks heading up from Station Top in Otley to Surprise view. Then right down to The West Gate and up again (the final Rombald’s climb) then onwards to Danefield (another climb) then down to a loop of Poolscar Wood. The Far Eastern point is The Fells Plantation where you climb up alongside the power lines and back to Chevin Forest Park before the final fly back down Jonny Lane to Station Top.

There were a few wrong turns taken by runners at the front, middle and back of the field, it is definitely one worth recce’ing. We were blessed with the best weather and only a bit sticky underfoot, it would be great to have more Harriers in this one. Di Kitchen had a fabulous race to be first in her age category, and Kelly Wilby had a super 5th place female finisher. The male and female race were won by visiting Sheffield couple Dan and Abbie Haworth.

There is also the option of the 10km (390m climbing) ‘Chevin is BS’ route, won today by Skyrac’s amazing Charlotte Rawstron, over 3 minutes clear of the first male.
