Verona Half Marathon – Sun 19 Nov

From Harry Brook-Dobson…

I ran the Verona Half Marathon this weekend. It was a pretty flat and fast course with the bulk of the race distance along the river. It was only the last 4km that were in the città antica with its twisty cobbled streets. The start was pretty bunched up and it took a while to spread out. I was aiming for sub 1:45 and set out at this pace finding it comfortable. At around the halfway point I was still feeling good and started to press on. With 5km to go I realised I could go sub 1:40 if I got a move on and I then strung a few quicker splits together. In the last kilometre I realised 1:39:xx wasn’t going to happen and I’d gone too hard too early so was content to roll into the finish in 1:40:55.
