From Harry Brook-Dobson…
The Vale of York 10M is one of the fast and popular races organised by EvenSplits. Forrest Hamilton and I were the only Ilkley Harriers there and we had a similar target time for this race. Starting with an out and back on the runway at Rufforth airfield gave a good opportunity to settle into your desired pace before moving onto the (slightly) more interesting lanes in the Vale of York. A relaxed attitude to getting your feet wet was important in order to try to run as close to 10 miles as possible rather than avoiding every puddle. Forrest and I ran together for the first 4 or 5 miles before he pressed on while I tried not to slow down in the second half. Forrest finished 11th in 62:04 and I came 16th in 64:16.
