From Lynn Donohue…
I lined up early Saturday morning for this 50km ultra in the Yorkshire Wolds following much of the Yorkshire Wolds way. There were four checkpoints visiting the picturesque villages of Huggate, Fridaythorpe, Thixendale, Fimber and Wetwang. Good running weather with a chilly breeze at times but quite welcome. It was very hard underfoot with all this dry weather and the route follows many field margins and through fields of Oil seed rape – pretty to look at but not so easy to run through when you are short! A very well organised event with friendly volunteers and marshalls; good signposting so really no need to navigate and to top it off excellent free cakes and tea at the end at Field house camping and coffee barn. I was really pleased with my run and time and would recommend this race and Ultra Trails especially if you are thinking about your first ultra – generous cut off times and sufficient checkpoints to keep you fuelled and watered.
