Another win for Sam Bentham in Three Shires fell race at the weekend, one of the Lakeland Classic races.
Sam finished in 2:03:51 with a 4-second lead over 2nd-placed David Lewis, and a new record for the anti-clockwise route course, introduced in 2025.
It’s a hard 13.50 miles with over 5,400 ft climbing covering Lingmoor Fell, Pike of Blisco, Great Carrs and Wetherlam, and with small trods to find on steep descents. The ground was pretty wet from earlier rain but the cloud held off from the tops.
Charles Wain had a good race to finish in 3:25:55 and I followed in 3:32:28.
