The Three Peaks Race – Sat 26 Apr 2025

From Alison Weston…

It was a great event on Saturday with Ben Rothery claiming first place in the prestigious Three Peaks race.

It’s a gruelling 24.2 miles with 5,336 ft climbing and a mix of stone paths, bridleways, road and also particularly steep grassy terrain on Whernside (the majority climbing on all fours!) The other major obstacle is the number of Three Peaks walkers to negotiate around, particularly off Whernside.

But nothing got in Ben’s way as he stormed round the route, breaking away from Alistair Brownlee from the top of Whernside to finish in exactly three hours, which was seven minutes ahead of second place Clovis Chaverot, with Alistair taking third.

Charles was second home from Ilkley closely followed by Harry. Sacha had a really great run to come in under five hours as did Jon, then it was Luke, myself and Charles.

For me now it’s a bit of a race against the cut-off times so I was delighted to complete another.

The support as always was fantastic and much appreciated from the Harriers, marshalls and other spectators.
