Iain had let me know he was running the Tad 10 so I decided what better way to spend your birthday morning than with a nice 10 miles through the countryside, so I signed up too. He assured me it was undulating but much flatter than Guy Fawkes!
On a fresh November morning we were pleased to see Sally had signed up too to complete the contingency of three hardy Harriers braving a chilly wind on the start line.
We were all too polite to suggest moving up towards the front to avoid being boxed in. So we started off steadily from mid pack and slowly picked off runners along the way.
From the back of Iain’s success at the Manchester Half I thought he would be a good target to follow. So I sat behind him and let him lead the pace, but he put his foot down from the start. We passed through the 10k mark in just over 40 mins, a new PB for Iain so he was really flying! My aim was to just keep up with him to the end but he even had enough energy for a sprint finish to pull ahead by 8 seconds!
Three Harriers started together and 10 miles couldn’t separate them as we all finished in 65 mins! The real star of the day was Sally Armitage who came away with second FV40!
So it was a very enjoyable birthday morning and I am glad Iain had encouraged me to sign up!

Today three of us trotted over to Tadcaster for the ‘Tad 10’. A 100% road, chip timed 10 mile trek around the countryside. A cold but sunny day, there was a bit of a wind but I didn’t feel like it really impacted me too much, don’t know about the runner I was hiding behind… It was a lovely slightly undulating course, compared to Guy Fawkes 2 weeks ago it was a delight. There was a quick 2k lap around town before venturing out onto the country lanes. Definitely one for the calendar next year!
