Natalie and I headed to the south lakes last weekend to take part in the Staveley 18km trail race. This race is part of Lakeland Trail series, and you’re able to choose from an offering of different length races or opt for a “challenge” (in this case, the challenge was the same as the 18km race but without the cut-off time). The field was relatively small (only 47 running, 205 runners having set off an hour earlier for the “challenge”). The atmosphere was friendly, and despite the drizzle, both Natalie and I enjoyed the event. The course was beautiful, very runnable and, in recognition of the race being held on May 4, we even had a fully clad storm trooper to cheer us on at the top of the final hill!
