On Sunday I took part in the Grim up North, Spring Canal Canter – Marathon. When I arrived there were lots of runners and I was expecting a large turnout, it became apparent that most runners had entered the half marathon or the 20 mile races and only a small group or were running the marathon with me.
The race was up and down the Leeds Liverpool canal, with support and water stops every 3 to 4 miles, with the normal great support and treats at the finish.
I was going ok for the first 20 miles then struggled a bit till for 3 to 4 miles, but got back into my rhythm for the finish. I clocked a time of 3hrs 36min and 50 seconds and came in 3rd the winner was Colin Johnstone in a time of 3hrs 13mins.
Edit: Tom Worboys also took part and came 4th in 3:47:13.
