From Rachel Carter…
Another Saturday, another day out for some fell racing with Robert. This time to on the moors above Todmorden for the Shepherd’s Skyline races. The senior race is a runnable 10K route which makes its way up to Stoodley Pike Monument followed by a steep descent (not my forte) before a stiff climb back up the hill with the course then rejoinng the outward route for the descent back to the finish.
The ground was wet and boggy with plenty of slippery rocks and streams to navigate on the well worn paths, but the morning’s cloud lifted as we set off so at least I could see the target of Stoodley Pike Monument. Race HQ is The Shepherd’s Meet pub and having somewhere warm to hover before the race on a cold damp morning and then to head after the race for runner’s pub grub was welcome. Definitely a race to recommend in a place I rarely venture!
