From Helen Waddington…
The start/finish of this event is at the Victoria Hall in Settle which from May-September has the most delightful outdoor cafe/tea garden with masses of bunting and brightly coloured tents and which serves hot and cold sandwiches and amazing home made cakes. As if this wasn’t enough we were treated to live classical guitar music as we sat and refuelled in the glorious sunshine.
The event itself is run by the Rotary Club of Settle and offers three distances (10k / half marathon / 23 miles). Paul (supporting his mum) and I ran the half marathon distance. The off road and hilly route was (not surprisingly) stunning, making use of the lovely paths and tracks of the lower fells and touching upon sections of the Pennine Journey and Dales Highway and with a lovely final section along the river from Stainforth.
