Ron Hill Rivington Pike Fell Race – 11th Sept

From Alison Weston…

One of the original FRA races 50 years ago, and this year run in memory of Ron Hill who completed the Pike fell race an incredible 40 times and won it on three occasions. His PB was 16:52 minutes to run the three miles up to the Pike and down! All runners received a Ron Hill programme outlining all his vast achievements including the 1964 Tokyo, 1968 Mexico and 1972 Munich Olympics, 10 mile, 15 mile and 25 km world records, international marathon wins and tributes from previous Pike winners.

This year the race was won by Daniel Haworth from Matlock AC in 17:34 and I was pleased to come 121st in just under 30 mins (28:26).
