Rombalds Romp – Sun 3 Oct

From Nick Kealey…

Definitely felt like autumn as nearly 50 hardy runners stood at the start line for the annual Rombalds Romp organised by North Leeds Fell Runners. The 8.1 mile route heads up over Rombalds Moor (unsurprisingly), through the plantation (watch out for slippery bridges), and down to Ilkley Road. The tough mile or so climb up to Keighley Gate that follows is then rewarded by a flattish section across the moor towards the Badger Stone and then a brakes-off rapid descent to the finish. Great fun!

Despite knowing many of the paths it is a very enjoyable route and race. For a local race, surprisingly I was the only Harrier in the field and perhaps luckily, due to the plethora of other races at present, I was able to finish 4th and 1st V40.
