Mark Hall and I took advantage of the cooler weather on Sunday to run the circuit round Studley Park and Fountains Abbey that constitutes the Ripon ten mile mixed terrain race. There were 145 others – all guided and looked after by the many excellent Ripon Runners’ volunteers. About 50% tarmac, and 50% good to rough farm track or path, with some grassy stretches stretched over a bit of flat interspersed with undulations and hills made it a challenging but scenically enjoyable run.
Mark was 5th overall and, although a V65, a minute and a half ahead of the first V50 runner in a brilliant 68m 21s. Over twenty minutes later I was happy with 64th in 90m 14s.
