From Colin Williams…
Last Saturday I took part in the Pennine 39-mile ultra race, on a classic section of the Pennine Way from Bowlees to Alston. The route runs from Low Force past High Force, to Cauldron’s Snout then on to High Cup Nick before climbing Old Man Knock, traversing over Cross fell and finishing along the river to Alston.
The forecast was for rain and it started just before the race did, with a continuous drizzle for the next 25 miles.
I completed it in 7 hours and 28 minutes, coming seventh out of 51 runners. The race was won by Rory Harris in a new course record of 5 hours 28 mins.
