From Kate Archer…
This was the third counter in the English fell championships. A challenging 14-mile figure of eight route over Pendle Hill with at least six climbs that takes in seven cloughs. The start and finish is in Downham, a picture perfect village with a lovely ice cream café and village green. The heat made the going tough this weekend, but it was beautifully clear which meant navigation wasn’t an issue. The race was won by Ben Rothery in an amazing time of 1:58. Ben was 1.5 minutes clear of second place and a set new course record! Other than a very frustrating bottleneck at the start, Jane McCarthy and I enjoyed the race, both of us 4th in our respective categories.
1. Ben Rothery 1:58:48
124. Kate Archer 2:56:43
146. Jane McCarthy 3:03:21
