Christos Tzelis was over at Oulton Park on Sunday competing with almost 200 others in the British Duathlon Championship. All you motor racing fans will know that Oulton Park is well known for its heavily undulating course, which probably played to Christos’s strengths.
He started with a two lap run of 8.6k which he finished in 2nd place overall, before getting on the bike for a 38k section. He was on a bike that was new to him and struggled to get into the rhythm he would have liked, which cost him quite a few places. So he had a bit of work to do on the final 4.3k run, but had a strong run, pushing the pace on the hills, getting past a number of runners to finish in 12th place overall in 1:44:23. More importantly he did win his age category and is now the British National Champion at age 17/18. Well done Christos.
