Otley Chevin Fell Race – Wed 7 June

From Forrest Hamilton…

Nathan Edmondson continued his fine form with a romping 53-second win at the short and steep 2.9-mile Otley Chevin Fell Race. Starting from the town centre, you race up the cobbles and quickly start going straight up, via the White House and the dreaded Chevin Steps until you burst (or for most of us crawl) through the trees to Surprise View.

From here it’s a sharp left down the sneakily technical track which you come up on the Chevin Chase route, then onto the quad hammering road section to the finish.

Nathan, who would have broken Ian Holmes’ 20 year old course record if not for a very slight (it may have bought him a second or two) corner cut before the marshall at the top of the descent, was followed home by Oli Murphy in second who had a great run.

Alison Weston and Bob Hamilton took home prizes for FV55 and MV65 respectively (Ilkley also would have won the team prize had one been awarded) to cap a wonderful, sunny evening of racing.
