From Sally Armitage…
What a great evening for a race, 13 degrees, dry and only a slight breeze. Much better than last year’s Otley 10 when it was around 21 degrees still at 7pm.
Although this had been on my race calendar all year I delayed entering until the morning of the race, thanks to my hatred of evening races. The atmosphere on the night zapped any doubts I had away though, it was once again an epic event with plenty of harriers on the start line too.
I have finished within the same minute for 4 years now, at least I’m consistent! I was happy with my run, I felt I paced it correctly, I ran the 2 torturous hills my fastest yet and my final mile was my fastest to date too. I bagged 3rd place, which is what I’d hoped for, I’d seen Georgia Malir and Zara Knappy on the start line and I knew with absolute certainty that they would be 1st and 2nd!
Ed Hobbs had a superb run, finishing in 2nd place, only 37 seconds behind the leader. I think he’ll catch him next year (no pressure Ed).
