Norton 9-mile, Sun 6 Mar

From Sally Armitage…

I think I entered this after missing out on a place in the Askern 10k, both races being organised by Askern District Running Club. I didn’t realise at the time of entry that this meant I was now booked onto three hard races in as many weeks, something I would definitely not do intentionally!

Norton 9 is an undulating, 9-mile road race along country roads on the outskirts of Doncaster. A single lap route with only a couple of gentle climbs. Norton 9 was the 2nd of my 3 races on the trot & I was initially wondering if I was even going to be able to finish it, my knee had been niggling all week and I was struggling to recover from my race last weekend. I battled through the first mile but then started to feel progressively better & stronger with each mile! I was really surprised with a 4th place finish, maybe racing on consecutive weekends suits me after all.
