From Helen Waddington…
Not too wet, windy or warm made for perfect Lakeland running conditions. This year there was a great new start location for this event, more central to Coniston, as well as some route changes including an additional climb making it just over 1800 feet of ascent over the half and 3,500 over the full. The half course is really beautiful and takes runners through shady woods and tiny hamlets before reaching Tarn Hows which we were instructed (more than once) you must complete one full lap of before branching off and enjoying the nice long descents back to Coniston. As always with the Lakeland trails series there’s lots of distances on offer and a Challenge or Race option. Hats off to Mary who opted for the full marathon distance whilst Dick, Nicky and myself felt fully tested over the half. Some big hitters on the start line of the half race, courtesy of Inov-8, made for extra interest.
