Four Ilkley Harriers took on the Kirkstall 7 mile trail race, starting at Kirkstall Abbey and following a roughly out-and-back route to Rodley and back.
The race was treated as Ilkley Harrier Steve Gott’s latest stag event before drinks in Leeds, in honour of which we all ran in T-shirts demonstrating Steve’s ongoing youthfulness. His wife-to-be, Heather, after almost 30 years of courting, has finally succumbed to Steve’s charms and they marry on Thursday.
Incredibly, Steve finished in 14th position overall and second in his MV45 category in a time of 46.19, despite being on another stag do the day before.
Dave Singleton (46th 51:53), Matthew Snow (73rd 54:49) and Roar Leijssen (148th 1:06:53) got round in a field of 214 runners.
A multi terrain race run in lovely sunny conditions with a friendly team from Kirkstall Harriers.
