I headed to Wasdale Head Show on Saturday so my son Robert could ensure he would receive a coveted BOFRA T-shirt (8 races in the season are needed) and was persuaded to run the senior race – an out-and-back of Kirk Fell. It’s just over 2 miles but with 720m of climb was pretty steep. Up was good – just head down, and hands and feet clambering over boulders and scree to the top but descending was really tricky for me as a novice scree runner and thus nearly as slow as my ascent. Glad to have had a go (at least to make the 3 hour drive there and back worthwhile) but not sure I’ll be back next year!
