Week Ending: 20 September 2026
It’s been a relatively quiet week for our Juniors with just a handful of athletes competing over the weekend – perhaps we’re experiencing the calm before a storming XC season ahead!
Nevertheless, there were some great performances to celebrate:
Parkrun
Saturday morning brought some challenging and changeable weather conditions, enough to make the keenest runners think twice about heading out! So, perhaps unsurprisingly, only two of our Juniors made it to a Parkrun start line.
Ethan Pickwoad braved the elements at Lister Park Parkrun, finishing in 22:44, whilst Georgia Poulter tackled the four laps at East Holmes Field Parkrun in 33:21, taking 1st JW10 in the process.
Fantastic effort from both of you for getting out there despite the weather!
Sunday morning was a rather different story, with blue skies and sunshine greeting our Juniors at Riverside Gardens Junior Parkrun. Lerryn O’Neill had a great run to finish 2nd in 8:28, followed by Poppy Freer, who crossed the line in 12:10.
Well Done to all four of you!
West Yorkshire Track and Field Championships
Heather and Rosa Crolla rounded off their outdoor track season by competing at the West Yorkshire Track and Field Championships, held in Cleckheaton last weekend.
Heather finished 4th in the U16 Girls Shot (3kg) with a throw of 6.62m, as well as taking 5th in the 80m Hurdles in 18:15.
Meanwhile, Rosa competed in the U14 Girls Shot (2.72kg), finishing 7th with an impressive throw of 6.65m.
A great way to finish the outdoor season – Well Done to you both!
And Finally…
There’s plenty to look forward to over the coming weeks, so don’t forget to get your entries in!
The FRA Junior Uphill Fell Race takes place this coming weekend, with the ESFRC following in a couple of weeks time.
Entries are also now open for the West Yorkshire XC League. Remember, you’ll need to be registered with England Athletics to enter, so please see Shirley if you need to register — or if you need reminding of your EA number!
As usual, if we’ve missed your result, please let us know so we can celebrate your achievements in the next Roundup!
Until next time, have a fantastic week and enjoy your training, whether you’re pacing on the paths, heading out onto the fells or putting in the miles across the fields. We’re looking forward to seeing what you all get up to this week!
Keep running, keep smiling and see you out there soon!
