Today saw a fitting farewell race to Harriers legend Jack Wood before he heads off to Switzerland next week.

Thanks to Bingley – and Stephen Fry in particular – for organising the handicap event across the moors which saw Jack power his way through the field alongside the likes of Tom Adams and Jack Cummings.

Apart from his incredible running performances over the years, Jack has been a brilliant captain, he’s organised the Addingham Gala race and much, much more. And he’s done all that with a modest, sporting manner that’s seen him inspire and encourage fellow runners, whatever their ability.

On behalf of the Harriers, we presented Jack with a commemorative tankard.
