A PB this was not to be!
Another fantastic Ilkley Half – well organised with amazing crowds and marshals. In fact I got so carried away with the shouts of encouragement as I flew down The Grove that I totally missed the first water station, which turned out to be a big mistake… I was pretty parched by Addingham, though still feeling ok, but then the heat got to me and it all went a bit wrong.
The final section in the blazing heat was a real struggle and I’m very grateful to Katie Ward for rescuing me at the finish line with yet another much needed bottle of water and dragging me into the shade. As with all these things though there was a lot to learn and a lot to love. I’ve already signed up for next year – I have unfinished business!!
A brilliant set of results from the Harriers at this great event.
