From Sally Armitage…
I’d entered this race last year but missed it due to illness so was pleased to make the start line this year. Another hilly road race starting and finishing in Holmfirth. A long climb up, a loop around a reservoir, followed by the same route back down to the finish. With 205 metres of climb it was the ideal preparation race for my next challenge in three weeks time, Guy Fawkes 10!
It started fast and knowing there was a lady there much faster then me, the goal was second place, and for the first 5k it was a battle against a Halifax Harrier. I think I got away from her around the 6k mark. The finish was a lap of a field, which is horrific at the best of times but when it’s bumpy and slippery, and you’re a road runner with wobbly ankles, it wasn’t enjoyable. Definitely a good hill training race for Guy Fawkes though!
