From Paul Stephens…
A slightly humid evening with a little rain at the end for us slower runners, but it didn’t dampen our enthusiasm or the atmosphere.
There were 371 finishers and a great turnout from Ilkley for the first race of this year’s Harrogate and District Summer Race League.
Jon Denniss was the first Harrier home in 8th place in a time of 32:11 closely followed by Emily Gibbins in 11th overall – and first female – and Mike AC who was 14th.
A flat course – obviously to our disadvantage – with a mixture of footpaths round fields, a short section through the woods along the River Nidd and what felt like a long way along the tarmac of the old railway. Thanks to all the organisers and marshals and to everybody who ran. Next race is at Sutton Bank. A fair way to travel, but worth the effort. And if you haven’t entered yet, you can still do so – here. There are 3 more races and the handicap.
