The Harrogate Harriers race from Cardale Park takes an anticlockwise loop through Beckwithshaw and the lanes to the South West of Harrogate. A couple of climbs which for some reason people seem to struggle with (I enjoyed them – honest) and a short section off-road, but mainly quiet country lanes. A good showing by Ilkley with 18 Harriers competing. In a field of 458 we had 2 in the top 10 and 3 top of their age categories – with Dave Foyston 9th overall and 1st M45 home. Jonathan Turner was 1st V50, and Alison Bennett 1st FV60. Credit to Jaysson Sawyer who despite his health completed the course in a good time when most people wouldn’t have contemplated running.
I managed a reasonably respectable 51.21 which was 3 minutes slower than I ran in 2019. Tom Lally was 40 seconds behind me that year, but 1m 40s in front this year. Nice one Tom.
