From Dick Waddington…
The Forest of Dean Trails Half Marathon is a twice yearly event that has been the venue for the UK Trail Running Championships for the last few years. It’s very well organised with plenty of homemade cake and flapjack available at the start (very important). The course is entirely through woods, which gives a distinctive feel. The first couple of kilometers head down hill to the lowest point followed by five kilometers of climbing, never too steep, leading to a lumpy second half that climbs to the finish. Underfoot the trails are good, with a bit of tarmac, making it very runnable.
