From Alison Weston…
Nea and I (and some of her friends) decided to do Ennerdale Horseshoe at the weekend.
I have done it a few times before and knew what was in store. It’s 23 miles and an awful lot of climbing (7,500) but an amazing route around Ennerdale. The tops include Great Borne, Red Pike, Green Gable, Kirk Fell, Pillar, Haycock and few more on the way back. Luckily you skirt round a few others including Great Gable which I was very grateful for at the time!
Water is in very short supply on the route so we filled up at Black Beck tarn in Haystacks.
Nea was strong all the way round and I really tried to keep her vest in sight ahead. Failed towards the end though!
Nea finished in 5 hrs 53 and myself 5 hrs 58. Delighted be under 6 hours and not a PW!
