Darren Holloway Buttermere Memorial Race – Sat 24 June

From Alison Weston…

A sudden change in the weather over the weekend in the Lakes caught a few of us out with rain and mist – forgot what this is!

Steve Turland excelled in the long race 35.5 km/2515 m finishing 33rd in 6hr 03.

The rest of us opted for the short (relatively) race 20.8 km/1518 m.

Simon Bell was sixth in 3hr 29, Gavin Lamb 12th in 2hr 44 (3rd V40).

Nick Helliwell and I added some unnecessary extra miles and height going off course in the mist en route to Grasmoor finishing in 3hr38 and 3hr 41 respectively.

A highly recommended race around the tops of Crummock Water with plenty of tea and cakes afterwards and it was great to see the front runners in the long race finish after covering all the tops around Buttermere Lake as well.
