2026 was the 15th edition (and my second attempt- DNF last year) of the Cambridge Half Marathon, now with 15,000 entrants it is a huge but well organised event. It attracts some elites, with three finishing the race in 64 minutes and the first female in 72 minutes.

One of the selling points is that the route takes runners through 3 historic colleges which are not normally open to the public. But with so many runners it is a bit congested and I spent more time watching my feet than enjoying the views. It is a fast flat’ish course, just a gentle incline between miles 7 and 9, and wonderful support all along the route. The final 1km felt like a lot of hard work as you reach the City centre and are then sent round a slightly convoluted loop to make the distance. The atmosphere in Cambridge is fantastic and as part of a weekend away I would highly recommend it. I only saw one other Harrier on the results, well done to Martin O’Halloran, narrowly missing the 2hr mark.
