Calderdale Way Relay – Sun 26th Sept

From Jayne Norman…

Sunday saw the return of the Calderdale Way Relay which takes in the sights around Halifax, including for some a trip up to Stoodley Pike. We finished an amazing 16th out of 62 teams.

There were some last-minute changes due to snake bites (and not the drink variety!) but we managed to snag a super-sub in Tom Adams to accompany Jack on Leg 1.

A few changes on Leg two, with Justin and Kyle doing a sterling job via Stoodley Pike to hand over to leg 3, who thought they were there for the selfies! A few navigational mishaps was the adventure for leg 4 (even with two Garmins to assist). Leg 5 saw a tumble on the mass start with Alison pushing the pace and making Jayne really work off the hockey legs from the day before. Leg 6 saw the home straight and with an old school drawstring PE bag setting the trend for the day. A great day had by all and probably more stories to be told. These relay events are a fab way of running with new people, running in different locations and team camaraderie all the while, can we get two teams or more next year?

Leg 1 – Jack Wood and Tom Adams

Leg 2 – Justin Pierce & Kyle Bethell

Leg 3 – Dave Foyston and Mike AC

Leg 4 – Helen Thurston and Steve Gott

Leg 5 – Jayne Norman and Alison Bennett

Leg 6 – Iain Gibbons and Lawrence McCourt
