From Jill Ezard …
There once was an old Ilkley Harrier,
Whose bad mood was a bit of a barrier
To enjoying a race,
Which should have been ace,
She just wanted someone to carry her!
The race was the trail half from Burnsall,
A setting that should have made her heart swell,
It went up, it went down,
More up, up, up made her frown,
She was not convinced it would end well!
But the views gave a bit of good cheer,
So she dug deep and kept in low gear,
Her efforts were rewarded,
When she was afforded,
A goody bag with a bottle of beer!
Footnote: I think it was probably a lovely race and I hope someone does a better sales pitch!
