This week saw recognition for Ilkley Harriers at a Regional Level at the England Athletics 2026 Regional Volunteer Awards (Yorkshire and Humberside).

Held at Oulton Hall, the evening was a wonderful celebration of the dedication, commitment and impact volunteers have across the sport. There was well deserved recognition for Neil Chapman for Services to Athletics and Running. As a coach, race director, and committee member, he dedicates hours every week to helping club members enjoy running, reach personal goals and ensuring events, either training sessions or races, run faultlessly. Much of this is done behind the scenes and this recognition is a testament to the contribution he makes not only to our club but to the region.

The Club was also Runner Up in the Unsung Project of the Year award for the initiative, created and driven by Caroline Tong, to provide opportunities for adults with learning disabilities to become active members of the club. Caroline, the group members and all volunteers that helped with the weekly sessions were recognised for the impact the initiative has had on widening participation and supporting accessibility. Many congratulations to Neil, Caroline and the group members and volunteers for these awards.
