Early in the day it looked like the weather was going to put the dampers on our Trail Race, last run in 2019, but by the time the race started it had dried up and the conditions were good. There were 156 runners who completed the race including 26 Harriers, which was an achievement in itself given how late we got the race into the race calendar, and that a similar number were doing the Wharfedale Half the following day. Tom Adams won the race, for an amazing 9th time of the 12 occasions it has been run, but he was quite literally pushed all the way by Jack Cummings who was just one second behind Tom after a brilliant sprint finish. The pair were over three and a half minutes ahead of Andrew Cairns from Wharfedale finishing third. The ladies race was won by Faye Birkby of Pudsey Pacers.
Great runs also from Tracey Watson, Dan McKeown and Matt Cox (4th overall) who all won their age categories. Brit Tate was our first lady Harrier home. Not surprisingly Ilkley men won the team prize and our ladies just missed out to Valley Striders by a couple of places. Well done to everyone who ran what is a very tough course, not forgetting you were helping to raise vital funds for the Revival Centre and Orphanage in Matugga Uganda, supported since the race started in 2008. Thanks to all those that ran and those helping and marshalling the race, who did an excellent job.
