A small but keen Ilkley contingent made its way up the A1 to Sedgefield for the 2024 Northern XC championships. A new venue for this race, which proved a success. Very accessible, good and easy parking at the race course, then just a short walk to the race which was on a large undulating common next to Hardwick Park. The entire event was cheerfully marshalled by members of Sedgefield Harriers. My day was already completely made when my car was waved to its parking spot by Gary Thwaites from the Tea and Trails podcast! A fast course with very little mud, at the pointy end of the race this will have benefited the road and track specialists, there were some very fast times as a result. Some excellent placings from our younger Harriers, especially Archie Budding and Beth Rogers who were in the top 10 in their respective races. Great to see Neil Chapman there, thanks for the support!
