From Katie Poulter….
Last month saw the English fell championships come to a close with the final race, the Old Crown Round, taking place.
This has been a series of 6 races over the year covering the full spectrum of fell distances and terrain. Runners compete as individuals and also may end up contributing to team points. With team categories in all the main age groups.
In the absence of the usual end of season awards night this year, I thought I would highlight some of Ilkley Harriers impressive results:
Men
- Ben Rothery 2nd overall
- Sam Bentham 1st U23 and 5th overall
- Ilkley Harriers men 11th team
Women
- Kate Archer 8th v40 female
- Jane McCarthy 7th V50 female
- Rachel Carter 12th V50 female
- Alison Weston 6th V60 female
Teams
- 2nd Vet 50 ladies team
- 3rd Vet 40 ladies team
Although not everyone who ran will be an official counter for the team points, it’s been fantastic to see so many turning up, particular the amount of ladies participating.
There were some outstanding individual performances in what is a very competitive field of runners and everyone should be really proud of this.
Onwards and upwards to next year!
