The original purpose of this thread was to see if there was demand for a 3rd team in the IHR, in addition to the 2 we have entered.
But we have found that the IHR are massively oversubscribed and there is no chance of us being allowed a 3rd team entry this year, unfortunately.
Saying that, many of those who have expressed an interest here may stand a good chance, I would think (but I am not the team selector!), of being asked to run in one of the two teams that we do have.
So, watch this space, as they say. And keep training.

Hi all,

Just to clarify the situation, we have submitted a request for 2 teams in the IH Relays this year, one men's team and one ladies team. We would have liked more but the race is hugely oversubscribed due to being the best race on the calendar, so there was no danger of ever been given 3 places.

Each team requires 8 runners plus ideally at least 2 reserves, and the intention will be to field as strong a team as possible. On the men's side we should be capable of pushing for a top 10 placing this year so we need as many people as possible available, fit & raring to go. The ladies are always competitive and have a proud recent history to defend.

Please can ALL men who are interested in running let me know either via this forum or by email. There have been lot's of people racing this year, but inevitably there are always some who disappear from view due to injuries/holidays/w*rk committments, so it'd be really useful to know what form everyone is in.

The race is early October, so if you can get out racing during August to demonstrate willing and prove some form, it will make things much easier when team selection comes around. The intention is to pick the team by early September to give people a month or so to recce their leg.

I thought it might also be nice if a few of us could commit to making a weekend of it. Perhaps a steady training run together on the Saturday in the Lakes, having a meal at the pub in the evening and generally promoting the great Harriers team spirit. Just some food for thought well in advance.

Cheers

Dave
