I actually think it's pretty nauseating behaviour by UKA to decide not to recognise performances at events that don't buy their insurance. It can't be anything to do with course measurement or the standard of officiating - both of these can be satisfied by non-UKA-permit races (and indeed UKA have no problem with recognising performances in overseas races where they can have no influence), so this, as far as I can see, can only be a way of driving races that don't buy UKA insurance out of business. Regrettably though, I don't think I'll do any Blackpool races unless they have UKA permits, as it'd be a real kick in the teeth to do a ranking performance and then not have it recognised.
