Country lane/offroad run 23rd of October

Postby nikos » Mon Oct 22, 2012 11:14 am

Please see an image attached of the route planned.

This week, we ll still need headtorches as we are running on country lanes and offroad tracks, the format of the run will be effort on anything that goes up hill to make our legs stronger and steady pace but not slow on the flat and downhills. Just for this week the pace will be steady but from next week we will go one level up and run at faster paces (7-45-8:00 pace) to hopefully go one level up in December 7:20-7:45

Some dynamic stretches before the run to prepare the legs for the efforts and as the 9 miles route I mapped is to the old bridge, we will do a nice warm down for the last stretch by the river to the club.

I would say road shoes will be fine and definitely charged headtorches (note to myself to have new batteries)

Hi Dave. I hope it s not the country lane bit that put you off. We ll be back to offroad from next week but I thought it ll be easier to run on 'soft' Tarmac than hard rock on the moor. I again had a very long run 35 miles but did it on Friday night so nearly recovered. If you have any ideas don't hesitate telling me...

See you next you week

Hi Nikos, No, not put off at all - I'm in Aberdeen for the day for work and won't be back till late. I may not be able to make next week either :( . The run sounded great and I like the idea of steadily increasing the effort - hills/speed/distance or a combination of all three.

Well just to say that the experiment running off road during the dark nights on club nights returned some results and I can safely say that there is no demand for it at the moment. So what happens now. It seems there are enough groups to satisfy all paces and abilities and people prefer road running during these months, so I ll go with the flow too and run on the roads every Tuesday.

If you ever want me to lead a run offload or you are thinking going offroad on a Tuesday, let me know.

Hi Nikos, I'm out next week too but after that I'll be back to running off road again if possible. I much prefer off road to road running. Cheers, Dave

Hi Dave, when you return we can go off road for sure. I ll always have the head torch with me. I just don't want to announce a group on Tuesdays if there is no demand for it.

Have a good time away
